Welcome Roxette

🙌 Welcome Our New Managing Director!

Dear Community,We are excited to announce and welcome our new Managing Director, Roxette Miranda, to our LAB Team! Here is more on who she is and what she envisions for The LAB Miami moving forward!

FIU Alumna with a B.A.A.S. Political Science and International Affairs.Certified from Harvard Business School in Financial Accounting.

The vision I have for The LAB is to make it the epicenter for entrepreneurs and freelancers where they can get all the resources available to take themselves and their company to the next level. I want to make sure that the events we host provide valuable information and also serve as a way to connect people to meet and collaborate. I want the LAB to be a collaborative space for those who want to help others in Miami. Whether someone trying to find a co-founder, a developer, a creative, a marketer, legal etc., they can find it here at The LAB. I want my experience and network to know they have a place they can incubate and grow. Along with all the community partners and relationships that have been pivotal in helping this ecosystem grow, I want them to know they have a space they can trust to keep the Miami entrepreneurship spirit alive. I want to keep the family, art, and funky feel the LAB has and know that even though we get down to business, we have fun.Like my alumna motto at FIU - "Work hard. Play harder."I'm passionate about helping people find their focus and connecting like-minded individuals in order to create a strong network of people who can find value in every meeting. I started working with startups when I joined Avia Medical Technologies, a medical device company, as employee #4 to grow the company. The company sold to Altus Spine and I was finding what to do next and joined a software/hardware company called WUN Systems, a coworking management SAAS solution, as a growth consultant. I helped the company grow until it got acquired by Yardi Systems, a global real estate technology company. Corporate life was not for me so I decided to find ways to be involved in the startup community to help entrepreneurs. In 2019, I reinstated the world's largest pre-seed accelerator, Founder Institute Chapter, and the first cohort was held in person with myself and a Co-Director. It has since grown to be the Founder Institute Florida with two additional Directors dedicated as a legal resource and an advisory role for our cohorts. Through the program, I run workshops, panels, and round tables on diverse topics such as funding, pitching, and more in various spaces across Miami hosting free events for the startup ecosystem, including  at The Lab like "How to Raise Money in Miami." You can join our Meetup for these and other events that I host around South Florida. I co-founded Pitch Night MIA, which was a monthly pitch competition showcasing local startups. The monthly event consists of a 5-minute pitch, judges will do a Q&A, give feedback, a winner is selected, and participants win prizes to help with their business. Pitch Night MIA is a way to collaborate and bring innovative ideas to the Miami ecosystem. I'm Program Manager at Numa for a project helping growth stage Costa Rican companies expand into the U.S. When startups need more tailored aggressive growth strategies on a 1-1 basis, 305 Works is a private consulting arm to help them achieve their goals in a more customized approach. My hobbies and likes: I'm a huge foodie. I used to be a bartender so I can make mean cocktails. I was part of Miami City Ballet when I was younger. I love to box and like all my things, my gloves are pink! I love yoga and music fests.I'm currently, an aspiring aerialist 🤸‍♀️
